Bill,

I would be curious to hear about any experiments with Teflon
bushings. I do know that Teflon is a difficult plastic to work in
precision. It has one property that can be frustrating. It moves,
that is it willingly changes shape during any machining process
and/or during a Teflon part's life. I worked at a plastics company
that specialized in machine plastic parts and we just loved the
contracts for machining Teflon. They were worded based on Teflon
consumed in production, not by the amount of finished, QC'd parts.

the lowest possible coefficient of friction. This is one of those
forehead slap things - "Why didn't I think of that before!". Teflon
against Teflon is going to be better than Teflon against anything
else. At some point in time I might try Teflon bushings in a thrust
bearing. Small diameter tubing is available and it can be made still
smaller by stretching while heating. (thanks to the R/C DLG guys for
this info)
