Everywhere I've been lately the accepted style is to bash into the ceiling! Even world champs do it.

  One thing that I've noticed, and something that I'm certainly guilty
  of, is the tendancy to use full motors for testing in low ceiling
  flying. I guess since flights are generally pretty short there is a
  tendancy to fly on full motors. We really should be doing more testing
  with partial motors. This should keep the models from bashing into the
  ceiling and allow safer testing.
