Chris,
Surely there is a place for humor within a hobbyist group, but
exactly where the borders are, I can't define. The problem is, that
which is funny, appropriate, or relevant to some within a group may
seems very unfunny, inappropriate, or irrelevant to many others
(equally intelligent or sincere.) For example, in the current
discussion, I had a couple quips about indoorists wanting stiffer
poles, but NO, I can't--there are enough comedians already out of
work. So IMO, it's best to avoid starting precedents that encourage
others with even worse taste than (grin) I to pick up and run into
the ground. At that point, the damage is done, and sometimes
impossible to get back on track.
Like a FF model, once a spiral dive begins, the normal result is a
crash, but hopefully more rudder or better trim can be provided
instead. And this is a nice group, IMO. (Although I wish a higher %
of our 350 members had something to ask or say, if concerning indoor
FF.)

Yes, I'm planning on it, especially if F1d Team Finals are held
there. (The mailed contest announcement says it will be.)
For those who don't know about the Kibbie Dome Annual (Moscow, Idaho)
it's a nice calm, huge Cat IV site, with a contest format that
allows you to fly any event (!) at any time, for 5 days this year,
8am to 8 PM from July 6-9, and 8am to 6 PM July 10, 2007. (oops,
gliders only from 8 to 9:30 AM. No other "slots" after 9:30
AM.) Unlimited event entry $125 adults, $50.00 Juniors.
An opportunity this good and generous may not last forever, BTW, so
do it while it's here!
