Marty
See my reply to Fred's post for the new one. The old one is an Ovation Carp II 11 meter pole with an elastic rating of 12. I ordered it from an indoorist in England and it cost $175.

  Bill,

What was the brand/model for your prior steering pole and what is the
  new brand/model? I don't own a graphite pole, but I've used Max Z's
and Ray Harlan's and they don't seem to be that fragile. I know that
Ray's pole was pretty expensive, but I think that Max's pole was about
what you paid for the new pole.

I got laid off again, but once I get another job I'll be looking for a
pole and it would be great not to have to spend a lot.
