Luthiers are very fanatical about wood, they make modelers look like
diletantes. A friend's brother put away wood every year so that future
generations would have really good, well aged wood. Some of the
lutes/guitars/dulcimers that he made used 300 year old quartersawn
spruce that his predicessors stashed away. When he recently passed
away his wood went to a couple of his students.
