Curved dihedral

Any imformation on the curved dihedral? How is the shape being held?
How effective is it? It would seem that the resulting wing would be
stronger, no stress points at the dihedral break. Is the film tight?
If so, does it contribute to holding the shape?

I remember seeing the World Championship articles in MAN and MA in the
1960's (my father got all of the magazines) with the large braced
"eliptical" dihedral wings. I thought they were beautiful.
