Fred
This is a good point. the last batch of OPP and PP wings I built had vertical tip plates. Packing them was a big problem. The next ones will have a little cant to the tip plates.

  Marty,

Definitely get opinions from the experts, but also consider the ease of packing models.

Tip dihedral, or polydihedral wings or stabs nest easily in packing on boxes for storage and travel. Separate fins and stabs are okay if they disassemble, but maybe not if the "T" still exists while packed. I use mostly stab tip dihedral, but never right angles for the stabs with tip dihedral. The experts seem to be split since there are those who use mostly separate stabs and fins and those who use mostly tip dihedral to make the stab also a fin.

I have seen a photo of a stab with a fin on only one side. Maybe that is the wave of the future <grin>.

My arguments, like my planes, are not frequently the lightest approach.

I've used both tip dihedral on stabs and separate rudder, but have
always wondered why one would choose one configuration over the other?
I've been looking for an A6 design and several plans that I've seen
have a bit of V-dihedral in the stab even with a separate
rudder. What's the thinking behind this?

And one final question, yes, I know I have asked quite a few
  questions...

With the passing of Jim Grant, I haven't seen any models that use a
V-tail. What are the advantages and disadvantages with using a V-tail?

I think I'll make a V-tail A6 and add some red color to the frame and
covering in honor of Jim Grant...
