Marty,
Early in my A6 building I built a "V" stab & a small rudder simply because I
thought the "V" looked good & perhaps I could use a smaller rudder. It flew
well, so I have kept building them that way. In hind site I could probably make
the rudder even smaller. I have tried several stabs with greater dihedral & no
rudder, but for some reason they all want to twist the tail boom during the
high torque phase of the launch & I loose control of the turn, so I quit
building them that way. Let us know how your "V" tail works out. I think Jim Grant's
colored balsa models are really good looking. Good luck with yours. The
biggest challenge to coloring the wood is water will cause warps. I have tried
"magic markers" but the solvents in glue (acetone) can cause the colors to bleed.
