Here's the rub

The larger throwing radius of a discus launch allows for a much
gentler, smoother application of energy. All things being equal, a
lighter, flimsier model of the same size (sq. in) can go higher on a
DL than a JL.

This is where I see a huge advantage in low ceilings. For instance, I
couldn't JL my Micro-Poker (2g) in Cat I but I sure can DL it, or an
even lighter model.
