I was taught to do it that way when I first started flying indoor. Somewhere along the way my knots started holding without the CA.
A side note - several years ago I got some Formula 2000 protectant. I never was able to get a knot to hold when I used that. It is REALLY slippery.

I have found that a tiny bit of Cya between the tails does the trick.
Just dont get any on the loop side. I have yet to find out why i am the
only person doing this :-)
