I think that would be an okay way to store rubber. I usually keep mine in the freezer. I'm at the point now where I need to buy my own storage space because I have too much in the freezer. I'll probably buy a mini-fridge when I figure out how much space I need.

I keep all my rubber in one of those wine cellars that looks like a
refrigerator - its dark and about 64 degrees F. The rubber seems to
hold up well. Does this sound like a good idea? Of course there are
also some bottles of wine in there, but I wouldn't think anything from
the sealed bottles would affect the rubber. I keep the rubber on the
top shelf, above the bottles.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this manner of storage.
Also, I have found some very good Tan Super Sport along the way.
