Did you really mean that you iron the film after wrinkling? That's
"iron" as in a hot iron used for clothing? I can't imagine how that
would work. All Mylar films shrink when heated so it seems that you
would have a huge mess if you tried to iron it.

I always use wrinkled film. If you're using light films you have to do
it gently to avoid popping bubbles of trapped air. I just wad the film
up into a ball, massage it a little with my fingers, spread it out and
then repeat the whole process. Usually 2 times gives me a texture that
I like. If you do it more times the texture will get finer with each
repetition.

I have seen many beautiful models covered with film that was not
wrinkled but for me it is much harder to get good results than it is
with wrinkled film.
