Interesting. It seems to me that so much effort is being put into ways
to bypass the written rules, why not make it much easier on everyone
and just alter the rules as written. This is not an AMA event, so rules
can be changed much easier and done here on this list as most people who
fly the event are here. Why not ditch the rules on minimum wood sizes,
as the minimum weight will dictate the wood sizes need to be strong
enough anyhow. This event has passed the 'beginner' event status years
ago, (they need to be 3.1 grams I think to be a true beginner event.)
Is someone going to seriously tell me a wing rib cut from .025" sheet
is going to make a model fly better than a .032 sheet rib? Seems to me
that the rules are trying to make it appear an easy event on paper, but
with enough built in loopholes. Why not stop kidding ourselves, and just
allow what the loopsholes allow, but be upfront about it, so there is
nothing left to "CD Interpretation", processing will be just as easy as
it is now. measure motorstick length, wing area, prop diameter, and flat
blades and then people can explore the sharp leading edges or rounded
leading edges etc as they feel fit.
