I tried running the condenser paper past the leading edge to create a "sharp" leading edge about 2 years ago. I didn't find that it made a noticeable difference. The main problem that I had was keeping the leading edge from deforming from rafter bashing. I changed to setting my leading edge at an angle so the leading edge forms a diamond rather than a square. This combined with a flapped trailing edge did make a difference. Not enough of a difference to catch Gary but enough to make a believer of me.
