Re: Re: Building A-6 , some problems

My only A6 experience has been in Cat I (23') and at USIC. In Cat I I've only made one flight and that was 4:52. Actually I flew my earlier A6 a few times in Cat 1on quarter motors but the times were really awful.
My front hookup uses a bent wire mechanism on the motor that slides into a plastic sleeve. I've posted pictures in the A6 album. The rear is a secret! (at least until I know if it works or not).
The A6 was flown at USIC with a different wing than the one in the picture. The wing in the picture has a condenser paper fairing in front of the front spar. I decided not to push my luck on this being legal. Also the model was flying a little more consistently with the different wing. The wing that I used was 13.3" x 2.25" with an 8% airfoil. The stab is 12" x 2.25".

  Hi Olbill
  Thanks for clarify things.
  > A6 is not an official AMA event so there are no official records.
Tom's time at USIC 2006 is the highest one that I know of.
Who is the one that release rules?
and are the "new A6 national rules" different from the ones
  posted here, in files section?

hoo, what a bad luck, with 9:10 and 40' more you can easy get into
10 minutes too. Seems very hard to work with A-6 motors, probably
because thay are very long compared to motorstick dimensions.
  >I think I've got the front hook problem solved and have some ideas

What type of hooks you use? Im planing a simple reverse-S for prop and
  a normal hook for tail.
  >I probably won't get a chance to fly A6 in a high ceiling again until
  next year at USIC.
if im not wrong, you fly in a 49 feet ceiling. What are your times there?
