I just flew the F1D regional and watched the Cavs game, so I don't have
much in the way of a contest report. But the big news for me was the
lights / air quality.
In previous years, the air was *very* turbulent above the lights (about
60% up) – presumably because the lights were very hot. This limited
the effective "ceiling" for duration flying.
This year the contest folk had the facility turn off two thirds of the
lights. It was still plenty bright, but the air was much better.
Mild, manageable drift up high. I did a couple of 28 minute flights
that needed only one steer apiece.
