Bill,

 The model had an anhedral tail. I kept wondering if that had something to do with it...sure did! When I switched to a slightly larger flat tail, it worked SO much better. Times went up a bit and it was just easier to fly. I'm trimming for a straight bunt climb with a left rollout/left glide. A larger one would fly very nicely, I'm sure.
