Yes, you are right: is kevlar, and is used for what you said.
I asked to the owner of the F1D with such "wire".

Thanks on advices on boron. Seems not so dangerous, just
handle with care and common sense.

I just read Steve Brown article on F1D motorsticks.
There I found many answers I was looking for.
