Hi Tim,
I am not sure what carbon fiber material your are
referring to but of the ones I am aware of K13c is the
best; about a factor of 2 better in stiffness /weight
than boron. This link has a little writeup about this
subject;

under Carbon Fiber Facts
So I never understood why people use boron
accept for the fact that K13c is not available to
modelers. Also people have develop procedures how to
work with boron making it "easy" to work with.
Different procedures are probably needed for carbon.
The product K13c2u is a .0025" thick material
that if cured in an autocave typically comes out at
.002" thick. The bulk cost is high about $1000/lb
where standard carbon fiber is about $50/lb.
I think it would be great if you made available a
high modulus (pitch fiber material) to modelers.
