Seriously, I use the black Tanita scales like you, but I've made a C
shaped balsa attachment from 1/8" square for weighing most things.
Placing the scales next to a table edge, the C hangs down from the
scale pan about a foot and the rubber can be placed over the bottom of
the C - well away from the scales themselves. To weigh wings/tails, a
short length of very thin wire projects from the C horizontally and I
can put the wing/tail tissue tube onto this - we all know it's
impossible to weigh flying surfaces horizontally.
