 The sharpening stone is a 1/4"x1/4" 600 grit hard mold finishing stone. It
should have a thin honing oil applied (dip the stone in the oil and let it
soak in) each time you sharpen. I sell the stones by them self and I am sure
Ray does also.

No idea on removing the goo. I would be tempted to try a stiff nylon brush
and some solvent.
