The beauty of the stick, in my estimation, is that it makes a "rigid"
handle that doesn't allow the film to flop kind of loose and pulls it off
the roll evenly, rather than putting the most pull at the point where
you're holding and pulling.
But, whatever works for you is great - Bob Warmann tells me he trims his
film from the frameworks with a razor blade - I can't begin to imagine -
but his covering jobs are flawless.
