I did some quarter motor F1D test flights this past weekend. The air was
stable, and my times were very good. The big issue I've run into is the
bird netting that is strung between the catwalks in the northern half of
building. These nets hang down to about 100 feet above the floor. The
southern half of the building doesn't have these nets, but that part of the
building is being used for paid storage of motor homes, and we're not
allowed to fly at that end of the building. So what we're left with is a
very large Cat IV building, but only about 95-100 feet of safe, usable
height. I still plan to have contests in the hangar, but it's not quite
what I was hoping for when I originally gained access.
