Hi Bill.
I can't imagine it would be that much different than tuning a regular plane except for the aluminum body. I'd be worried that the aluminum would fill in any diamond plates.So I would go with float glass and sandpaper for flattening the bottom. Cut three stripes of 320/400/600 grit wet or dry and adhere to the glass with 3m77.
Then wet the paper and go to town.

Does anyone have Jeff Hood's instructions for tuning a David plane?
