Thanks for all the responses so far.
Regarding the washing of rubber, when long time ago they used talcum powder
on the rubber (Pirelli time), I used to wash them, but I don't do it
anymore.
With Pirelli we also noticed that the rubber absorbed some water; I have
not tested the modern rubber.
