You can calculate the amp draw of your cautery by measuring the resistance
across the tip. I can check mine tonight. I would think a small
potentiometer would work for adjusting temperature. Just connect the
positive between the center tab and one of the outer tabs on the
potentiometer. That turns it into a rheostat or variable resistor.
