Jake,

The past contest days have been Thursday through Monday. I would suggest keeping the same format and having the contest on 6/22-6/26. The possible dates have but a one day difference and I do not think, contrary to Nick's reply, that a shift of a single day makes any substantive difference relative to the next weekend. And, July the Fourth is on a Tuesday in 2017 and this is one of the holidays that is not switched to a Monday (so, I assume, there will be no three day July 4th contest at Lakehurst in 2017).

BTW, the Thursday through Monday format makes some logistics (like helium tank supply) easier since many commercial businesses are closed on Sunday. Also, ending on a Monday makes it easier to have planes retrieved by a "ceiling walk" while competitors are still around.

With respect to shortening the contest in future years, I would like to strongly argue against doing so. The entry fee for Kibbie, even at $300, is but a small expense compared to the travel and room costs. We have had great deal at the University Inn, too. The relaxed nature of flying under fewer time constraints makes the Kibbie contest unique and very special. I sincerely hope that this five day format does not change.

Finally, having a date set this early is quite welcome. It will do much for increasing the participation (in addition to the team trials). Bravo, Jake!
