Coconuts Over Rantoul

Have you ever watched a mass launch of Coconut Scale models? Just seeing one well-trimmed Coconut model in flight is an experience. Seeing a whole gaggle of them take off and circle together... brings everything else to a stop.

Thanks to Jim Buxton and others, the Coconut Mass Launch is on the schedule for the 2016 Indoor Nationals. (Fri 7/22, 11:30 AM).

Let's make it a memorable one. Don't be intimidated. If you've never built a Coconut, here is a plan that's designed to help you through it - a "People's Coconut".

If you can build a Peanut scale model, you can build a Coconut. (And the Coconut will fly better :-) Even if you have never built a scale model - the attached plan will take the guesswork out. All critical details, including the breakdown aspects, are illustrated and explained. The model breaks down to fit in a 24" x 7.5" x 7.5" box.

Full article should be in the MAY-June NFFS Digest, but due to the timing, and in the interest of stimulating participation at Rantoul, they've given permission to share the plan ahead of time through other avenues (thank you Don!). I built my miniMAX in two weeks, so you have plenty of time between now and the Nats to build one if you like.

I will try to post some pictures of my other Coconut models and encourage anyone else who has some to do likewise. If you have questions - let's get some discussion going. I and others will be happy to help!
