50+ years ago my dad used to make microfilm in the bathtub (with five family members and only one bathroom). He was a bold man.

A long, wide tank is key for pouring nice sheets of film. Fortunately, it is pretty easy to set one up: a simple frame of 2x4s, 4" side vertical, and a sheet of plastic draped over it. The water doesn't need to be deep.
