I'd point someone to this page:

Gary has done an outstanding job of showing someone how to start. My kids built these when they were 5 and 6 as their first models and I still fly them at the EAA as demo models for kids.

They went on to build LPPs from 'kits' I put together for them. We didn't realize it at the time but my daughter broke the national record in Urbana at the NATS. That was the peak of her interest and she dropped out of it shortly afterwards. My son still flies his planes, but often gets sidetracked into other things as ten year old boys are wont to do.

Logical progression can be anything really. The DD II H, to Mashup, to Double Whammy (with built up prop), to LPP, to anywhere they fancy. F1L, F1M, F1D is just one route.

I've said in the past that we do a terrible job marketing ourselves. At West Baden I sprung for signage that explains a bit of what we do. People seemed to enjoy a Best Times board quite a bit too. We do get people who are interested in it, but it is difficult to guide them now that A2Z is shuttered. No one stop shop to point them too now.

So there is a demographic: Folks who are interested in the hobby and want to learn more. We need a flyer we can hand out. I volunteer to print them out and bring them to WB. Anyone care to take a stab at it?

Regards.
