Helicopters need a place in a site to sit and run off the turns, I
tried helicopter at Akron once and once it got up into the girders it
was lost forever. ETSU has a spot in the middle by the louvers that
helicopters could site and spin so was popular there. Rantoul would be a
good place for helicopter and is on my Nats build list.

As far as experimental autogyro, you need to get a new rule book :-)
That was booted last rules cycle but is a prime example of passing an
event with no vetting. It was an attempt to fly indoor autogyro with no
fixed wing and if you look in old Zaic yearbooks you will see wingless
autogyros and low flight times around a minute or so. The fixed wing was
added to get them to fly. Some thought the fixed wing was "cheating" as
well as the "pinwheel" style rotor I started using. Some felt the rotor
did not follow the intent of the rules so may be part of the reason of
participation fall off in that class.
