Hi everyone,
This is my 1st time posting on your group. Vladimir's. post about tail boom/motor stick transition prompted me. I have a related problem. I built my 1st F1D this year and flew it at Lakehurst. It was a modified Kang Salt Jr. design. It flew just ok and I learned a lot. I am in the process of building a new plane that will have a motor stick and tail boom with no connection in between like Salt Jr. had. I'm using a Harlan tail boom form going to a 1/4" motor stick. My question is, how do I get a tight fitting, light weight, reliable transition between ms and tail boom and also, a method for installing the ms hook? I'm thinking the motor stick will need to be slotted top and bottom, then a balsa shim with hook slid in and glued? Is additional reinforcement needed? Suggestions, ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks, David Phillips
