Yes we will have a contest next year.
April 29^th will be an open practice day
April 30^th and May 1^st will be contest days
May2nd will be the day we get to work with the middle school kids.
*The flood.*
There was an exceptional rain storm earlier this year that flooded the
floor and ruined the rubber floor covering
and artificial turf. During the inspection of the damage some “abatement
issues” came up.
The insurance company, the contractors, and the school are working hard
to get the Dome open again.
The cost of all this is running into the millions so it not an easy or
quick thing to get accomplished.
We will keep you posted as the work progresses.
*Me*
While on vacation earlier this year I got pneumonia with quite a bit of
lung damage. I also had a “heart block”
and now have a pace maker. Living in Albuquerque at 5000 feet above sea
level has me on oxygen full time.
My doctors strongly recommended that I move to a lower altitude. We
lived in Oregon 35 years ago
and still have friends there. I made a quick trip there a while back and
did just fine at that altitude.
I am looking forward to getting back with the Willamette Modelers Club.
But I won’t be able to C.D. the Dome contests any longer.
Tom Gaylor will C.D. the contest next spring. Tom is a super guy and
will do a great job.
*More on the Dome *
Last spring the vents were not fully closed and we have discussed
several solutions to this.
The school is going to try to get the vents repaired or replaced as part
of the overall repairs to the Dome.
If not, we have an alternate plan to fix the problem.
I would like to thank all of you that have supported the contests in the
past and especially those who have
helped with the students after the contest.
