HLS is the Hand Launch Stick event. If I remember correctly, it is pretty much an open, unlimited rubber powered class. I don't believe there is a minimum weight nor max wingspan. As such, the models normally use very large wings (48" inches is not unheard of) and are very, very light. Imagine a super sized F1D carry more rubber, and that gives you an idea of HLS.
