I use the same method as Kang but I use a 4 sided frame. I too use vaseline so it can be repositioned and re tensioned on the frame. Ive used large clouds of spray glue also but will definitely be using less. The glue I used before 3m 77 lost its stickiness very quickly so I kinda sprayed a cloud over the wing and let it settle on it. Old habits die hard. I always aligned the wing over the film and very awkwardly laid it on the film so Im going to be trying Joshs method on my next model. Maybe this will get me building f1ds. Actually, your method may put the film on the covering frame with a more "natural" amount of tension in the X vs. Y direction.
I adjust the tension *after* putting the film on the covering frame. The covering frame rails are coated with Vaseline to allow tension adjustment. However, I've often found that I put too much tension in the fore-aft direction.
My problem may also be due the covering frame having only two sides instead of four. In order to remove wrinkles from the ends, the film in the middle has to be pulled very tight.
