Well here's an update. Not so much doom and gloom as people thought. Apparently their NATS site is too close to controlled airspace. (Been watching the HPA forum today.)

"Not so much as a storm in a tea cup but the simple truth is that Free Flight is NOT BANNED in Australia (a lot of miss-information has been peddled around on this subject) and the real reason is that ALL aeromodelling in OZ is subject to controlled airspace and a 400 feet altitude restriction ( see CASA Advisory Circular 101-3(0).

The 100 gram rule is a bit of a red herring as 95% of all models (except Indoor which is excluded, P-30, Coupe, CLG and HLG) fall in the second category of "up to 25 kilograms"

While Dalby IS affected, all other sites can apply for a revised height restriction through the MAAA provided it meets the requirements specified in AC 101-3 (worth reading if you want to know more).

Ployd in OZ"
