Perhaps, but AMA works a bit to lobby for us, and here in the states, the FPC RC Quad Rotor crowd is keeping the FAA busy enough that free flight models haven't been getting as much attention (at least that I have heard of).
Note, my response is a bit tongue in cheek. I was not taking a shot at the FPV multi rotor crowd, and actually find that part of aeromodeling rather enjoyable.
