There are two ways I would do this. The preferred method would be to drill
a hole thru the carbon rod and then use a 90 degree bend on the prop shaft
in front of the spar. The second would be to cut a groove part way thru the
rod, glue the shaft into the groove (also with the bend in front of the
spar) and then add some carbon in the way of tow or small diameter rod over
the shaft to close the groove.

Another possibility would be to split the carbon rod at the middle and
spread it enough to get the shaft thru. This would probably be the
strongest method.
