For comparison purposes, I wondered what a pair of balsa blades made from 6# balsa would weigh if they were the same dimensions (1.5" X 4" each) X 1/16" thick. I get 1.17 grams total. I know molding balsa blades is not for everyone, but my point is this: Like it or not, an essential component of Indoor free flight is learning how to build light enough & strong enough for the particular application. This may or may not be a good way to save weight in your application.

I just cut a pair of about 1 1/2" x 4" blads from a nice plastic
container. It's from our local deli, about 4" bottom, 5" top and 6'
tall. The pair of blanks weigh in at 2 gms.
