RE: Anti-Doping

Keep in mind that CIAM is just a small part of FAI (who regulates all full-scale air sports and space records including racing/speed records, aerobatics and skydiving to name a few). If pilots felt they could fight the fatigue of these demanding activities with performance enhancing drugs, it could obviously be a safety issue and possibly result in unfair competition. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulates international sports and the operation of competition machines on land (like Formula 1), at sea (like International Sailing Federation) and in the air (FAI).

So obviously no one has been killed (that I know of) by a doped-up F1D flyer whose model veers into the crowd, but in this PC world, FAI is unwilling (or unable) to exempt any activity under their jurisdiction, even the safest of all activities. I can tell you that although under the anti-doping regulations, neither FAI not WADA is very interested in ‘cleaning up’ indoor FF.

Yeah, who would even see the need to dope indoor free flight, and why would you want to?

Dear All,
Please, find below the newest info from the CIAM Bureau meeting which happened a few days ago.
In agreement with WADA, the FAI anti-doping policy changes from 2015.
FAI will not perform interim tests between the events (no RTP competitor pool will be selected), it means that we wouldn't have to be available every day for testing.
Tests will happen only at some selected Cat 1 events (world and continental champs and World Air Games).
Those, who have to use medicine having prohibited substance in it, can use the TUE document (Therapeutic Usage Exemption, the form downloadable from the FAI web site). The doctor have to certify the necessity of the medicine on the form, than it shall be sent to FAI. After confirmation FAI sends the form back. The owner have to show it up in case of a test at a Cat 1 event.
Regards
Andras
