There is a strong local indoor base in Colorado. We get 15-25 contestants at our annual Pikes Peak Ceiling Climb. As Romash noted having a Nats here would be a snap. We've flown this site for many years; it never disappoints.

Upsides
--Lots of local guys willing to help
--ample parking right outside the doors
--tables and chairs on site
--ideal downtown location within walking distance of restaurants and hotels
--hotels are very inexpensive. As low as $35 (Econolodge 1 mi from site). Clarion within walking distance is around $70.
--I live five blocks from the site and can put 2-3 guys up. Romash lives 3 miles away.
--COS airport is 20 min away. We'll pick you up. DEN 75 minutes.
--site is low (36'9" peak) but smooth. Parabolic tiled ceiling.
--We've NEVER lost a plane here, in 14 years of contests that I've run.
--Colorado Springs in late spring is heaven on earth. Perfect weather, mountains 20 minutes away, great area for touring, camping, fishing, shopping, museums, fun for wives/girlfriends. Really. You may never want to leave!
--best of all, this Nats could easily break even. Rental is about half the cost of Kibbie or ETSU.

Downsides
--floor area is limited but I think easily manageable over a 4-5 day contest
--at 6100 feet you won't set any National records. Site record in SCLG is 49.0s by Gowen, F1D around 23:00 (Kagan).

This would be the lowest ceiling of all time at a Nats. But it'd really competitive, very cost effective and FUN, I guarantee it.

We don’t really have time to spin a brand new site up from scratch – although if there are any really good candidates, it wouldn’t hurt to start the process for the future (e.g. Belton).
