Stay away from too much alcohol/drugs would be my advice.
Too much too easy to obtain at most schools.

Also round out your education to some degree. Learn a language.
See the world a bit if you can get away for a while.
The practical side would be to be choosy - Pick a language that would help in your career.
However, it does help to be attracted to the land/culture of the language too.
