Re: SO props

So far the Ikara's seem to have the best effect. My son has two airplanes built to the current SO rules. The first was overweight with 8.5 grams and the second, the family "McGuffin Mk IV" design came in 8.01 grams. He used one of the Chuck Markos' "Solo Cup" (SC) props and the largest Ikara trimmed to legal diameter on both airplanes. Using the SC prop or the Ikara with a loop of 3/32, he has cracked 2 minutes with both birds. It looks like the Ikara has the the better potential with some slight flare added to the tips. Careful sanding of the Ikaras will help the prop to flare under torque load.

Because the rules require a non-transparent area on the covering and an opaque patch on the wing (for 10% bonus), he elected to use the plastic bags for the vegetables from the local grocery and a section of colored Esaki tissue.
