RIP Phedon. I heard the rumor when I asked about him at Smith Bros. Hobby in Northridge, no one could confirm.
He wasn't at the "Grassy Knoll" on Sundays for some time so I was asking about him. I bought some balsa from him
for around $10.00 and joked with him about paying with American Express, he said to bring my card to the field. He
bought 2 "Stringless Wonders" that I built that were for sale at the hobby shop. Knowing his modeling skills, I asked
why he bought them. He said he would use them for testing rubber. I was so proud that I called a friend in NY and told
him "hey, this guy's an expert and he bought 2 of my planes".
Very sad news, I've searched his name online to no avail recently. Definitely a big loss for FF and aeromodeling.
