We have had a couple of events, the 2014 USIC at the Kibbie Dome and the July 4th record trials at Lakehurst to compare the new and old rules F1D times. At Kibbie, John Kagan won both contests so I think we can fairly compare his times. I only have Brett's new rules times for the recent Lakehurst event but I think it instructive to compare Brett's new rules times to his record set at LH in October of 2012.
Using John's Kibbie two flight totals (69:32 and 50:10), we get a ratio of 1.386 for new rules to old rules F1D's. Using Brett's best new rules time of 30:07 and his record of 42:03, we get a ratio of 1.396. Note that a lesser old rules time will give a smaller ratio.
The zeroth order approximation for time ratios, based only on motor weight, gives a 1.5 ratio. However, as Kang and others have pointed out, we need to take into account that a new rules plane looks like a partial motor old rules plane flown to a 2/3 height so that the 1.5 ratio is only good when comparing a new rules plane to a old rules plane flying 50% higher. This will reduce the 1.5 ratio estimate for planes flown in the same site. It looks like, from the first experiences, that a ratio of slightly less than 1.4 is currently appropriate when comparing the old and new rules planes flown in the same site.
Perhaps 21:30 is the new "30 minutes" for F1D.
