Re: Dying nylon tubing for 0-rings
Okay, as long as we're going over the top here (I think everything about F1D is a little over the top) I drilled a #13 hole in a small strip of .063 aluminum, and chamfered (one step beyond deburred) the hole on both sides. This makes the tool, easy-peasy. Now the tool is set flat on top of the nylon o-ring, and pushed down so the o-ring snaps into the hole. Then go back in with the deburring tool and cut the sharp inside corners off the o-ring.
They looked good under a 10x loupe, and I decided to take it up a notch and use the tool as a slicing guide so I could cut the rings exactly .063 thick and chamfer them as the second step.
It was a bit awkward to do, but produced a bunch of beautiful commercially acceptable rings.
I'll leave the boiling and dying to the serious zealots.
