Re: Re: Analysis of the new F1D rules
I spent all day Saturday at Kent flying to the new rules adding ballast
and a spacer on my model. This was my first time flying VP on F1D with
rubber restriction (when I flew 55cm when the rules first changed I flew
fixed pitch as I was flying in the Akron airdock). I was only able to
get two flights over 17 minutes Saturday, a 17:05 and a 17:10, but the
method for tuning a model with restricted rubber was something that was
very new to me. I have always tuned the rubber to fit the prop and now I
must tune the prop to fit the rubber. It is completely backwards to what
I have done for 30 years and was initially frustrating as my instincts
were telling me to do one thing but the rules would tell me I can not.
It was an interesting learning experience.
