Re: Approaching the new rules from a design standpoint

Hi Kang.

I see a model with a reasonable amount of wing wash, far less than the up to 1.5" that I have seen previously on a few of my old motor sticks (all 0.013") at high torque (uo to 0.6 in-oz.)
It is about what I want to aim for, honestly.

On one built for West Baden (the crunched one) I had done a spiral wrap with Kevlar thread. This didn't cut the wing wash as much as I would have thought it would. Kevlar may be the wrong material. Carbon or boron under tension should be better. I've never gotten boron to wrap around an entire 1/4" motor stick though - it always fractures. 5/16" doesn't have this problem. On my first F1ds flown at JC, I used tungsten wire to spiral wrap and it made an unflyable model flyable. Tungsten might be the best solution.

I feel like being able to trim to use that 0.5 to 0.35 range is the next leap for me.
Using 0.015" wood looks like it will solve this issue.

 Regards.
