The change has caused me to lose a lot of the faith in the FAI. If the
majority opinion of current F1D participants was indeed that these changes
should not have passed, then the democratic process has failed us. The INAV
poll and other anecdotes seem to indicate this is the case. As of the last
world championships 12 countries fielded F1D teams. 30 countries voted on
this proposal, meaning that 18 countries that do not have teams decided the
outcome of the proposal.

I agree with Mark that it is ironic that we should lose all but the highest
site, while simultaneously deciding to cripple the climbing abilities of
our models. I could not hit the ceiling of the mine with 0.6 grams. I don't
feel very enthusiastic about trying with 0.4 grams.

I plan to moth ball my current program after the spring U.S. contests this
year. I'll try building some models to meet the new rules. However, the
thing that excited me about 55cm was it was a portable model that had the
potential of doing 40 minutes on a perfect flight. F1M now feels like a
much easier way to do the same time as the new rules models.
