To clarify - I was mentoring a Science Olympiad competitor last year. He
asked me what would happen if we used CA to glue the flaps instead of
epoxy. I told him the foam would melt. He decided that he wanted to see
that happen and did an experimental gluing with some scrap foam and
scrap balsa (he had already finished his glider wing using epoxy). There
was no foam melting and the joint seemed as strong as it was with epoxy.

Yes - foam safe CA would probably work but I've never had any of that.
